Master Soul Level Astrologer Mark Borax developed Soul Level Astrology™ in 1987. Soul Level Astrology™ is more than a system of astrology. It is a way to locate ourselves in time, space, and dimensional reality, in this earthly plane between birth and death, to come to know who we are at a soul level. If you desire to go to London, you need to know where you are, where you want to land, and what kind of plane you have in order to take off and fly in the best direction. Soul Level Astrology™ is learning about the blueprint you are working with in this lifetime, and often what leftovers have bled through from other lifetimes that are ready to be resolved.

Lineage of Soul Level Astrology™

Mark Borax

My teacher, Mark Borax is a master astrologer with 30 years of experience working with thousands of clients. Additionally, he is a father, husband, poet, author, musician and songwriter. Soul Level Astrology™ was birthed in 1987 as a result of the blast of destiny he received from his first reading with William Lonsdale. During that reading, Mark told William of his desire to be a professional astrologer, and was told, “To be a true astrologer you must never know what Aries or Virgo means, but find out all over again what it means in this new person who sits before you.” From 1987 to 1994, Mark learned the art of reading the birth chart, and so much more, from William in a mystery school beneath the redwoods in Bonny Doon, California. He and a few hundred others studied the mysteries of time itself, the unique situation of the evolution of our species, and how human beings operate interpersonally in a laboratory like no other. William and his wife Sara taught their students via the ancient Socratic method of lecture accompanied by open dialogue.

Prior to that Mark’s astrological knowledge came from the reading and practice of Alan Oken’s Complete Astrology, which he used solely for the study of his own chart for four years before meeting William. Jeffrey Green's book Pluto: The Evolutionary Journey of the Soul guided Mark's astrology practice until he entered into his studies with William. 

Mark was mentored by writer Ray Bradbury, and Mark’s bestselling book, 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future, details the story of his first meeting with William and the subsequent transformation that Mark undertook to develop Soul Level Astrology. Mark's second published work, Cosmic Weather Report, which he coauthored with Ellias, is about transformation; an extraordinary approach to taking the 'red pill'. 

Mark and his wife Marcella teach a three-year program that initiates students into the art and science of the practice of Soul Level Astrology™ through their school, the College of Visionaries and Wizards. The college also offers advanced courses, and is host to the Tribal Drumbeat Program.

Mark’s intent in offering a three year training and certification in Soul Level Astrology™ is not to crank out astrologers, but rather to help his students to “look at inner space and learn how to read the birth chart...It seems like the real purpose for bringing these groups together is to form a circle of souls who enjoy discovering much more of the deeper layers of what everything is all about. The system that I use just really has a way of peeling away the layers and getting down to the core of who a person is.”

In addition to working with individual clients, Mark also shares his formidable astrological insight about the cosmic weather via the internet and in a monthly Soul of the Signs conference call and through the Tribal Drumbeat program, featuring the essence of each sign throughout the year.

Ellias Lonsdale 

Ellias Lonsdale is the progenitor of Star Genesis, the root system of Soul Level Astrology™. Born William Lonsdale, he was an ardent student of Marc Edmund Jones, who has been called the 'dean' of American astrology. William also studied with Dane Rhudyar, Jone’s other outstanding student, who is oft given the title the 'pioneer of modern transpersonal astrology'.

While William learned a great deal from his studies with Jones and Rhudyar, he found that the sole use of human intellect blocked the potentiality of the human being. He was restless, knowing that the birth chart had the capacity to provide far more insight than traditional western or sidereal astrology had previously offered. This led William to study the work of Rudolph Steiner, which is foundational to the interpretations of the twelve Lifestreams of Star Genesis. The purely intellectual, esoteric, psychological, and even intuitive interpretation of the birth chart treated people, in William’s words as, “corpses”.

Lonsdale developed a system that is about a living being; not relegated to flat descriptions based on arcane astrological interpretation, but rather, a way of reading the birth chart that “summons each of us to the flame, to burn everything but our true core natures”.

Ellias has made many significant contributions to the astrological world. He is the author of many astrological texts, including: Star Rhythms, Inside Star Vision, Inside Planets, and Inside Degrees. He synthesized all previously published works with the Sabian and Chandra symbols, then spent a period of timing tapping into the energetic signature of each of the 360 degrees of the zodiac, which culminated in the unpublished transcript called Star Sparks.

For those who are more familiar with astrology, a few treasures (there are too many to list here) that Ellias developed that are unique to Star Genesis: (Note: for my readers and potential clients who are not astrology geeks, you can gloss right over this next section. I share this information here not to be overly esoteric or to blah blah blah astro-speak, but for those who will find it of interest).

• Poignant interpretations of Rudolph Steiner’s teachings about the epochs of history through the 12 zodiacal signs

• The Dharmic Current system, which works with the 12 year timing cycles of Jupiter and the Four Minds of Star Genesis, “These are the single most critical timings setting up future evolution by tracking the Solar Cosmic and Lunar Earthly selves through the first 48 years of life from birthday to birthday.”

• Deepened Dane Rudhyar’s work with the lunation cycle and interpretations of the natal moon, the Star of Destiny, as well as progressed phases of the moon in the unpublished work, Inside Moon Phases

• Degree Frequencies are most likely Ellias’ most significant contribution to the astrological world. This is a way of interpreting the degrees of the zodiac in conjunction with the numbers one through thirty rather than by sign, which gets down to a person’s essential nature through body, soul, and spirit

How Star Genesis was Born

In 1975, William had a dream in which he was himself as he existed in ancient Atlantis, the Star Seer from the High Temple. In that dream, he accessed cosmic memory, and spent the next twenty years engaged in his own transformation and the discovery of how to work with the knowledge he had been given through his own inner work and his practice as a professional astrologer with thousands of birth charts. In the autumn of 1991, with the help of his wife Sara, and strong encouragement from Mark Borax, a mystery school converged beneath the redwoods in Bonny Doon, California. Here, William began to reveal and teach the system he had developed. Thus, Star Genesis emerged as a system for the first time.
